Hang Your Christmas Lights on Siding – Here’s How

Christmas lights

After you have eaten the last slice of Thanksgiving pie, it's time to untangle the light outdoors and start to design it for Christmas. Sparkling lights appear to round the outside of your home during the festive season. And the right and secure implementation raises the regular cheer status higher.

We have the tips and tricks that will help you hang your lights carefully without damaging siding or trimming. If you have a fiber cement siding, then hanging stylish lights is not a hassle. Here are the steps that you can follow.

Step 1:

Calculate how much distance you should use for the light string direction. Installation is needed in one hook per 2-foot light string, which may differ so that the product features can be checked.

Step 2:

Install the hooks along the desired light string path, following the product instructions. The siding hooks are usually mounted by putting the hook underneath the siding portion. We are discussing about James Hardie siding here, because natives of Oklahoma City, choose this siding above all.

Clean assembly surfaces are required for adhesive hooks. Wipe the place with a moistened cloth or paper towel where the adhesive hook is located and make the spot dry with a towel. Add the hook to the cleaning area and allow the adhesive to be set for an hour before hanging the lights in line with the direction of the product.

Step 3:

Hang the lights on the hook in a line. Most hooks have a flap or lock to keep the ropes in position in the windy conditions safely. To secure the string of the lights, you should use a nylon cable tie with each hook if your product does not have this feature. Push the cable through the hole in the hook; loop the tie around the light string and cut the end by scissors. Alternatives to cable ties you can include twist ties or twines.

Step 4:

Link the light string to an outdoor power supply.

Always Consider Safety First

You may face a three-fold threat when you're up on the steps of a ladder, walking up your roof and working by putting your whole strength.

The holidays will make you feel relaxed wearing your ideal vacation sweater and gloves, just make sure they fit properly to avoid snapping of pieces of the roof, or siding.

Tip: Wear a pair of protective glasses to cover these peepers.

After all, you never know when another hand is required to start the light-hanging project. And you can avoid nails, staples and glue when you hang decorations on the outside of your house.

Tip: Look for the outdoor safety video.

Once you have hung your lights, you plug in to the last strand and your neighbors will be looking forward to the sparkling effect from their windows. You've completed a potentially risky job with ease— you and your siding can relax and rest comfortably.

We wish a very happy and safe Christmas from Salute Exterior Family. Hope you have a gala time with your family and friends.
